World Taekwondo Hanmadang

The U.S. Taekwondo Committee and U.S. Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang remain committed to growing the Martial art of Taekwondo in the United States and World while maintaining the core traditions and values.

The U.S. Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang was created in 2009 to provide an International competition for Taekwondo practitioners of all ages and athletic abilities.  As the U.S. Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang continues to grow, innovate, and expand, the U.S. Taekwondo Committee aspires to field and financially support a team of U.S. athletes to compete at the World Taekwondo Hanmadang in Korea in 2016.

In order to accomplish this goal, the U.S. Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang would need to have a total athlete count of 2,000 athletes in June 17 and 18, 2016.  If we cannot meet this goal, it would not be not be feasible for the Organizing Committee to financially support a team of athletes at the World Taekwondo Hanmadang.  Let us work together to make this the largest U.S. Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang!

If we are able to meet this goal, the tentative divisions that will represent the U.S. Taekwondo Committee are:

  • Adult Female (18 and above) – Individual Power Breaking Skipping Side Kick Or Turning Back Kick

  • Adult Male (18 and above) — Individual Power Breaking Skipping Side Kick Or Turning Back Kick

  • Adult Female (18 and above) – Individual Traditional Forms

  • Adult Male (18 and above) – Individual Traditional Forms

  • Child Female (17 and below) – Individual Traditional Forms

  • Child Male (17 and below) – Individual Traditional Forms

The selection process for the above events are still being determined and subject to change.

Respectfully,

Grandmaster Doug Fueschel
Executive Director
U.S. Taekwondo Committee
